Revolutionizing Clinical Research Through the Power of Community
RxE2 is thrilled to be exhibiting at the GCSG 2026 US Conference in San Diego from April 26–29!
Traditional clinical research often faces the “80/20 Problem”: while 80% of healthcare treatment occurs in the community, roughly 80% of research is clustered at major academic medical centers. This creates a massive travel barrier that stops 62% of patients from participating.
At RxE2, we believe the solution is to flex the traditional research model rather than reinvent it. We are turning community pharmacies into fully scalable clinical sites, leveraging the fact that 9 out of 10 Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy.
Operationalizing Research Where Patients Live
Whether it is in the heart of a rural agricultural community or the center of a bustling urban neighborhood, RxE2’s technology and network of 20,000 local independent pharmacies allow sponsors to meet patients where they already are.
Our strategy focuses on inclusion and execution. By bringing trials into the community, we offer:
- Trusted Relationships: Patients rank pharmacists among the most trusted healthcare professionals.
- High Engagement: Patients visit their pharmacy roughly 35 times a year, compared to only a few visits to a primary care physician.
- Diverse Reach: Moving interim visits to local pharmacies allows us to reach underserved populations across any geography.
The "Pharm-to-Trial" Model: A Partnership in Action
You may wonder how this works in practice. One way we operationalize this is through our partnership with Science 37.
Together, we’ve developed a “Pharm-to-Trial” model that uses local pharmacies as regional hubs. In this model:
- RxE2 Pharmacies serve as the grassroots research clinics, managing the storage, shipment, and accountability of the investigational product (IMP).
- Science 37’s Mobile Nurses and Investigators work out of these pharmacy hubs, either in person or via telehealth, to conduct assessments and study visits.
This collaboration removes the barriers of distance and time, allowing participants to receive care in a comfortable, familiar setting without traveling to a distant research site.
